Aftermarket eForum Will Wrap Up with Breakout Sessions on Solutions to Tech Challenges

BETHESDA, Md. – The 2008 Aftermarket eForum will conclude Wednesday morning, July 16, with three concurrent breakout sessions with a focus on solutions to technology challenges that aftermarket companies are facing. The breakout sessions topics will focus on manufacturers implementing service-oriented architecture (SOA), a practical discussion on industry standards and technology compliance, and a primer on data synchronization of product data in specialty distribution. The breakouts are designed to foster a collaborative, problem-solving environment and will run from 8 am to 9:30 am and will repeat again from 10 am to 11:30 am. This gives eForum attendees the opportunity to attend two of the three sessions.

Breakout Session 1, “Making SOA Relevant for Business – Competing on the Basis of Speed and Flexibility,” will look at how SOA will drive value for aftermarket suppliers and customers by improving costs, speed to market and helping businesses integrate end-to-end on a common set of reusable assets. The session will feature Jerry Johnson, Aftersoft Network N.A. and Mark Colan of IBM.

Breakout Session 2, “Industry Solutions and Tools for Adoption,” will look at software web portals and other tools to simplify the world of data standards and technology compliance. Attendees can learn about the Customer E-Commerce Matrix, The Aftermarket Brand Table, the PIES Transformation Utility, the ACES Data Scorecard and the ACES Collaborative Interface. Speakers will include: Chris Gardner, AASA; Rob Horsey, Technologue; Scott Luckett, AAIA; and Ian McNabb, Pricedex.

Breakout Session 3 will look at the latest results from the SEMA Business Technology Committee, which has facilitated the synchronization of product data between dozen of suppliers and distributors. “Data Sync in Specialty Distribution,” will include Ed Heon of DATAgility and Alise Miner of SEMA.

The 2008 Aftermarket eForum, “Learn More, Earn More: Techniques & Tools For Growing Your Business,” will be held July 14-16 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Chicago.
