Delphi Recognized With the 2008 Luxembourg American Business Award

BASCHARAGE, Luxembourg – Delphi has been selected to receive the 2008 Luxembourg American Business Award presented by the Luxembourg American Chamber of Commerce in the U.S. This award recognizes the special and longstanding relationship between an American corporation and Luxembourg.

The award will be presented on Oct. 22, at a black tie dinner at New York’s Gotham Hall, presided by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg and Jeannot Krecke, Luxembourg’s Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade.

"Delphi is honored to receive this prestigious award from the Luxembourg American Chamber of Commerce which highlights the strong relationship between Delphi and Luxembourg. Government officials have shown continued support and flexibility regarding the business needs of companies operating in the country and has allowed Delphi to enhance our research and development activities at our Customer Technology Center in Luxembourg," said Rodney O’Neal, chief executive officer and president, Delphi Corp.

The Delphi Luxembourg site opened in 1971 and was recently chosen to house the company’s Powertrain Systems headquarters. Delphi is a leading global supplier of mobile electronics and transportation systems, including powertrain, safety, steering, thermal, and controls and security systems, electrical/electronic architecture and in-car entertainment technologies.

The products developed in Luxembourg are helping automakers reduce the impact of the automobile on the environment, which the company says reflects its goals of protecting human health, natural resources and the global environment as a responsible corporate citizen.

Delphi’s Luxembourg Customer Technology Center is one of the company’s leading European operations, providing crucial support for the development of energy and engine management systems, as well as thermal systems.

Delphi said it located its Customer Technology Center in Luxembourg for several reasons — to include significant ongoing engineering activity in Luxembourg combined with numerous advantages associated with the region’s cultural diversity, pro business government, quality of life, central location, commercial neutrality to automotive customers and favorable business climate.
