Continental, a technology company specializing in automotive solutions, has recently introduced two new resources for the transport logistics sector. The company’s primary customer portal, myVDO, aims to serve as a comprehensive resource for information, services, and assistance, with a particular emphasis on compliance issues in transport logistics. This initiative is part of Continental’s VDO brand services.
To further engage with its audience, Continental has appointed Olli Gleinert, an active truck driver, as a brand ambassador. Gleinert’s role involves explaining the functionalities of the new smart tachograph, the VDO DTCO 4.1, to fellow drivers and addressing the complexities of the EU Mobility Package I. Ulrich Stern, head of marketing and communications in the business area Smart Mobility at Continental, highlighted the challenges of compliance requirements. “The EU’s compliance requirements are constantly growing and often not easy to understand,” Stern said. “We don’t want commercial fleets in Europe to be threatened by unexpected fines and penalties. That’s why we’re determined to make compliance easier to understand.”
The myVDO portal is designed as a central hub for drivers, fleets, workshops, dealers, and trainers, offering a range of tailored content. This includes news, instructional videos, software and hardware updates, and a link to the VDO PartnerFinder. The portal is part of Continental’s effort to provide a streamlined, cost-effective platform for legally compliant driver management and documentation, crucial for billing and reporting driving times. The company plans to make myVDO available in all European languages and has already launched it in 13 European markets, with plans to continuously add more services and information.
Stern further elaborated on the vision for myVDO, stating, “We want myVDO to be more than just a simple customer portal for managing purchases and getting occasional software updates. It includes offerings for people in every area of transport logistics and is always keyed to their individual needs.”
