Valeo Produces 20 Millionth Front Camera System

Valeo has produced its front camera system hardware and software in partnership with Mobileye's system-on-chip.

Valeo produced its 20 millionth front camera system containing Mobileye technology. This milestone comes only 12 months after reaching the 10th million front camera in November 2022. Up to 40.000 front cameras a day are manufactured in 3 production sites in Europe and China serving 12 OEMs.

Valeo said the partnership has focused on integrating Mobileye’s system-on-chip (SoC), named “EyeQ,” into its front camera system hardware and software. Together, they have developed multiple generations of front camera systems, advancing computer vision technology in the automotive industry, Valeo said.

Currently, the collaboration is centered on integrating the latest generation of Mobileye’s SoC into Valeo’s front camera systems and its advanced centralized computer and software. Valeo’s front camera system, utilizing Mobileye’s EyeQ, can help enhance road safety by supporting features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and traffic sign recognition.

Marc Vrecko, president of Valeo’s comfort and driving assistance systems business group, emphasized the importance of this technology.

“Valeo offers the largest portfolio of sensors and perception software available on the market. Front cameras are one of the key technologies for enhanced safety and will soon be set up on all vehicles,” he said. “We are very proud to have reached this new milestone in the ramp-up of our production and in our partnership with Mobileye. At Valeo, we strive to make our technology efficient, but also available to all and we are proud to be contributing to the safety of road users.”

Nimrod Nehushtan, senior vice president of Strategy and Business Development at Mobileye, also highlighted the impact of their collaboration. “Since our founding, we have focused on improving vehicle safety for drivers globally. Our ongoing success with Valeo demonstrates how far we’ve come together and the opportunities that lie ahead to bring even more advanced technologies to millions of vehicles over the next few years. We look forward to working with Valeo with the next-generation Mobileye EyeQ6 system-on-chip going into full production next year,” Nehushtan said.

Beyond their collaboration on cameras, Mobileye and Valeo recently announced a new partnership on software-defined imaging radars to support the next generation of driver assist and automated driving features.
