Winner Named in CRC 1970 Olds 442 Sweepstakes

Bill Thornton of Thornton Auto Parts in Ellsworth, Kansas, was randomly selected as the sweepstakes winner.

CRC Industries announced the winner of its 1970 Oldsmobile 442 Sweepstakes that launched last July at the NAPA Expo. The completely restored 442 was first displayed at the CRC booth, where employees, managers and owners of NAPA Auto Parts stores and repair shops were invited to enter for a chance to win.

The opportunity to enter extended through January 31, 2023, and on February, 8th, 2023, Bill Thornton of Thornton Auto Parts in Ellsworth, Kansas, was randomly selected as the lucky winner.

In early 2022, CRC commissioned Thornton Muscle Cars (no relation to the winner) in Quakertown, PA, to rebuild the 1970 Oldsmobile. With a metallic Aegean Aqua exterior and white leather interior, the vehicle features several upgrades and a rebuilt original 455 EFI kit and Turbo 400 transmission. The 442 drew much spectator attention at NAPA Expo and then later at the SEMA Show in the CRC booth, the company says.

“We are thrilled to award this pristine work of craftmanship and engineering to Bill Thornton, an avid classic car enthusiast, mechanic and drag racer,” said Lou Fresta, VP of Sales at CRC. “NAPA Auto Parts is a valued business partner, and we had a blast launching this sweepstakes in appreciation of the great NAPA parts and service providers, like Bill, who help keep America’s cars running.”

The vehicle was presented by CRC representatives Ashley DeRosa, national account manager, and Keith Enger, regional sales manager, at Thornton Auto Parts on March 22, 2023. Thornton’s family and close friends were present for the celebration, as well as several representatives from the NAPA Kansas City DC: Jason Martin, sales manager; Mike French; assistant sales manager; Jeremy Martin, wholesale manager; and Carey Mullin, territory sales manager.

When asked which CRC products are his best sellers, Thornton said, “CRC Brakleen #05088 (non-chlorinated) hands down. We sell it by the case, and our customers say it performs best at a fair price.”
