MAHLE Announces Finalists For ‘The Choice Of Champions’

Four finalists will travel to AAPEX for the chance at two, one-of-a-kind, custom vehicles as the grand prize.

MAHLE Aftermarket Inc. has announced the four finalists for the first-ever “MAHLE: The Choice of Champions” technician promotion grand prize drawing.

The finalists will travel to the 2022 Automotive Aftermarket Product Expo (AAPEX) for the chance to win their choice from two custom-built vehicles exclusively designed by racing and automotive enthusiast legends Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Casey Currie.

The Vaughn Gittin Jr.-inspired vehicle is an RTR Spec 5 Mustang with several high-performance enhancements, and the Casey Currie Jeep sports an off-road-ready, high suspension package. The full MAHLE family of products, including the company’s portfolio of premium gaskets, pistons, bearings, rings, and filters, paired with support from the MAHLE Service Solutions tool and equipment division, helped engineer both custom builds.

The grand prize ceremony will take place at the MAHLE Aftermarket booth A-2661 at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at AAPEX 2022. Along with Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Casey Currie, The “King” Richard Petty, will be present when the finalists each select a key from his signature Charlie One Horse hat – one of which will unlock the lockbox holding the fobs to the custom vehicles.

The four finalists in the “MAHLE: The Choice of Champions” technician promotion are:

  • Jesse Yoder of Jess Performance in Shipshewana, IN
  • Nathan Cox of Fox Plaza Automotive in Collierville, TN
  • John Hubka of HC Auto Repair in Bryan, OH
  • Shaun Spangler of SPS Motortech in Cockeysville, MD

“It’s taken awhile for us to get to this moment, and to say we are excited to announce the four lucky finalists is an understatement,” said Jon Douglas, president of MAHLE Aftermarket North America. “This promotion exemplifies our dedication to the customers who helped get us to where we are today and represents our commitment to providing aftermarket solutions fit for champions. We are eager to have these two incredible custom-built vehicles at this year’s show, and the opportunity to award the prize of a lifetime to the winner onsite is going to be fantastic!”

In addition to the four finalist trips to Las Vegas and the grand prize vehicle, merchandise from Team RTR, Casey Currie Racing, Petty’s Garage, and MAHLE was also awarded randomly throughout the program in the form of “Swag Bags.”
