This week, in partnership with the University of the Aftermarket, we offer you a front row seat into the Leadership 2.0 experience thanks to participants in this year’s session. Leadership 2.0 is a two-week, residential aftermarket-focused education program hosted by The University of the Aftermarket at Northwood University. Today we hear from Channing Reames, category manager, Genuine Parts Co. Reames and other Leadership 2.0 participants have gathered in Raleigh, North Carolina, for Session II of this aftermarket executive education program.
It was another exciting day at Leadership 2.0. As always, the class began with a roundtable discussion. Yesterday we discussed the electrification of vehicles, but today we talked about the importance of Right to Repair and the OE’s efforts to lock out the aftermarket. Many great opinions from across the industry were brought forward and discussed among the class.
After our roundtable discussion, Dr. Frank Morgan led a discussion about ethics, using Volkswagen’s diesel emissions testing as an example. We analyzed a case study about how VW addressed the issue and how it could have been prevented.
Next, after our great lunch, we listened to a presentation by Paul McCarthy, president of the Aftermarket Automotive Suppliers Association. He presented a bullish outlook on the aftermarket, which was refreshing to hear. He supported his positive outlook by data and different industry trends.
The conclusion of day two was at Frankie’s Fun House, where we drove go-carts and ate pizza!
