EnerSys Marks 25 Years Of ODYSSEY Battery Production

EnerSys will highlight special ODYSSEY battery moments over the past 25 years with activities throughout 2021.

EnerSys, a global leader in stored energy solutions for industrial applications and the manufacturer of ODYSSEY batteries, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of ODYSSEY batteries by taking a look back at its journey to success. Through a series of digital activities set to launch throughout 2021, EnerSys will highlight special ODYSSEY battery moments over the past 25 years and showcase how this premium power solution has become the battery of choice that customers have grown to rely on for handling their transportation needs.

“Over the years, ODYSSEY batteries have become renowned for their power, reliability and longevity for a variety of applications,” said Dave McMullen, senior director of marketing, Transportation & Specialty at EnerSys. “We are excited to pay tribute to such a historic product milestone. It’s been quite a journey so far and we are just getting started. We look forward to building upon our legacy of ODYSSEY battery success for many years to come.”

As part of this unique campaign, EnerSys will unveil a new video series that chronicles the customer’s personal journey using ODYSSEY batteries. Each video will focus on a different application to demonstrate the value and performance of this virtually maintenance-free power solution across industries and demographics. Engineered with Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) technology, ODYSSEY batteries provide twice the power and triple the life of conventional lead acid designs for a wide range of applications, including Automotive/Truck, Powersports, Marine, Recreational Vehicles (RVs), Heavy Duty and Fleet Vehicles.

“The goal of this program is to continue to create a sense of trust and pride in our brand,” McMullen said. “We are promoting the 25th anniversary celebration to demonstrate how our portfolio of batteries has improved the overall power experience for our customers. Whether it’s used to start the engine in your family’s minivan, to support an onboard vehicle Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) or for a trolling motor in a fishing boat to avoid spooking the next ‘catch of the day’, ODYSSEY batteries are always ready to perform and tackle the journey ahead.”

ODYSSEY batteries provide deep cycle reserve power and maximum cranking power, with engine cranking pulses up to 2,700 amps for five seconds, which is double that of equally sized conventional lead acid batteries, according to EnerSys. The rugged, Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) construction and non-spillable design of ODYSSEY batteries protect against high-impact shock and mechanical vibration, helping to provide longer service life. Backed by an industry-leading warranty, they feature a three- to 10-year service life and a two-year storage life at 77°F (25°C).
