Federated member PartSource recently hosted four “DIY Girl” Women’s Workshops at its Calgary, Alberta stores. The workshops, hosted by former race car driver and noted automotive educator Kelly Williams, are designed to help women understand their cars better so they don’t feel intimidated.
The DIY Girl initiative is about knowing what simple things you can take care of with a trip to your local PartSource. DIY Girl is about not waiting around for someone else to do it for you – DIY Girl literally means “Do it yourself, Girl!”
Among the topics covered during the clinics are how to check oil, fluids and tire pressure as well as cutting open oil and air filters to show the difference between clean and dirty filters.
Valvoline hosted Auto Value and Bumper to Bumper’s eight-man Service Center Advisory Council for its semiannual four-day meeting in Lexington, Ky., Oct. 8-11.

Auto Value and Bumper to Bumper’s Service Center Advisory Council watched horseracing during Keeneland’s fall track meet. The event took place during the council’s fall meeting in Lexington, Ky.
Oct. 10, Auto Value and Bumper to Bumper’s Service Center Advisory Council visited the reputable Woodford Reserve distillery in Lexington, Ky., to learn about the process of making the Kentucky bourbon while enjoying a tasting of the iconic spirit.
Last month, employees of Federated member Automotive Jobbers Supply enjoyed a day bike riding on the famous Hiawatha Trail in Idaho.
The Hiawatha bike trail begins with a 1.661 mile long ride through a tunnel called the Taft that averages about 41 degrees.
The tunnel is pitch dark and helmets and headlights are required.
After the first tunnel there are nine more with seven trestles that are ridden over. After biking the 15 miles to the bottom, the bicyclist catches a shuttle back to the end of the first tunnel and then rides through the Taft tunnel yet again.
“We try as a company to do outings for our employees and their families throughout the year,” said Shawn Williams of Automotive Jobbers Supply. “In the past we have done tubing adventures up on Mount Spokane in the winter and this summer was our first of many Hiawatha adventures. There were a total of 13 employees and their families on the trail. The weather was amazing that day and everyone had a lot of fun.”
The Federated 400 weekend got off to a charitable start as 60 golfers participated in the annual The Group/Toys for Tots Golf Outing. This year’s event, played at the Brickshire in Providence, Virginia was won by a foursome from Fisher Auto Parts: Kendrick Kier, Rick Maynard and Gary and Geoffrey Shifflett.
With the $17,000 raised at the outing, The Group has raised over $250,000 for Toys for Tots in 2019 and since initiating its Toys for Tots campaign in 2012, The Group has raised over $2.5 million for this worthy cause, and The Group has been named a “Three-Star Partner” by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

Continental Battery Systems announced it has been named Supplier of the Year by FleetPride, distributor of aftermarket heavy-duty parts and service, at the recent FleetPride Supplier Summit.
