VMAC Named One Of Canada’s Best Managed Companies

The Canada’s Best Managed Companies program was developed to recognize best-in-class private companies that set the standard for business excellence.

VMAC has been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, joining the country’s leading private businesses that have earned this prestigious award and recognition from Deloitte.

The Canada’s Best Managed Companies program was developed to recognize best-in-class private companies that set the standard for business excellence. Best Managed Companies tend to be driven and resilient, demonstrating an aptitude for long-term success and global growth. Companies cannot simply apply to the Best Managed program — they must be invited by Deloitte, as a result of demonstrated performance.

“It is exciting that our leadership team’s approach has been recognized,” said Tod Gilbert, president of VMAC. “As a lean organization, we all work with the goal of continuous improvement. This applies to our products and processes and is supported by our management team. This achievement is a success for our entire organization.”

Canada’s Best Managed Companies is a challenging award to receive. The application process is rigorous, and all the finalists must exhibit significant and verifiable competence in several key areas, including strategy, capability, commitment, financial performance and management. Companies are then benchmarked against other finalists and only the top few receive this prestigious award.

“This year’s Best Managed winners are a testament to the success found when businesses invest in talent, innovate intentionally, and think long-term,” said Lorrie King, partner, Deloitte Private and co-leader, Canada’s Best Managed Companies program. “These companies should be proud of this achievement, and their responsibility in acting as role models for other Canadian businesses.”

This year’s applicants for Canada’s Best Managed Companies were judged by a panel of eight seasoned business leaders from a variety of industries, including banking, and consumer products. Of all the businesses invited to apply for the 2019 awards only a fraction are named Canada’s Best.

“The Best Managed Companies award is another indication that we’re getting things right,” said Gordon Duval, vice president of marketing and sales for VMAC. “All of the Best Managed Companies have exceptional culture and people, epitomize innovation and demonstrate sustained performance with strong financial results. That’s not a coincidence.”
