Ecotuned Partners With Spectra Premium For The Manufacturing Of Its 100-Percent Electric Powertrain Systems

Ecotuned intensifies the commercialization of its unique transport electrification solution for light to medium-duty trucks. Spectra Premium will manufacture and assemble all the Ecotuned systems in Quebec.

Ecotuned, designer of a unique electric powertrain system, has announced a partnership agreement with Spectra Premium Industries, manufacturer of automotive and light- to medium-duty truck parts and components, for the large-scale manufacturing and assembly of this system.

The Ecotuned powertrain system is universal and reusable, which enables the technology to be easily uninstalled and reused in another vehicle. Available as a conversion kit, the system can be installed quickly using simple tools by any accredited automotive workshop. In addition, Ecotuned has developed the only two-speed transmission on the market, which makes this system perfectly adapted to convert any light-duty Class 2 trucks to Class 4 medium-duty trucks.

By only modifying the powertrain, Ecotuned’s technological solution offers a new alternative to quickly convert trucks without wasting previously invested capital in rolling stock.

“The performance of our patented technology is our main asset. Ecotuned stands out by offering to its clients a product that ensures clear savings in terms of operating costs (80 percent) and maintenance costs (50 percent) in addition to reducing greenhouse gases up to 9 tons of CO2 per year for each vehicle,” said Andy Ta, president and founder of Ecotuned. “Since the beginning of our discussions, the Spectra Premium team has established itself as the ideal partner for Ecotuned. Their manufacturing expertise and production capabilities will enable us to increase the market penetration of our innovative solution.”

Thanks to this partnership, the increased production capacity of Ecotuned electric conversion systems will open the whole North American truck fleet market – estimated at more than 2 million vehicles in operation – regardless of the make and model. Spectra Premium will contribute its experience in manufacturing under the strict quality standards of original equipment manufacturers.

“Spectra Premium is proud and excited to join Ecotuned’s plans for transport electrification, a strategic focus for our company. This partnership will enable us to further develop our expertise in the transition toward electric powertrain, which started with the development and manufacturing of hybrid power systems and is recognized by the automotive world’s major players,” said Jacques Mombleau, president and CEO of Spectra Premium.

Ecotuned says its technology perfectly meets the needs of emerging markets that seek to reduce greenhouse gases emissions. While reducing their operating and maintenance costs, vehicle fleet owners and managers using Ecotuned systems will no longer be considered as major polluters, but rather as companies that care about protecting the environment.
