The Remanufacturing ACE Awards is an international competition sponsored by the Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC). Nominations for these awards were accepted for individuals or companies in three categories, based on RIC’s mission to Advocate, Collaborate and Educate on behalf of the remanufacturing industry.

The ACE Award is granted to an inspiring person or company that is recognized for their leadership in creating positive change for the remanufacturing industry and sustainability. The nominations were judged by a panel consisting of industry leaders, including partners from the RIC Remanufacturing Association Alliance.

The event was emceed by Vaughn Henson, vice chair, Remanufacturing Industries Council and general manager, SRC Logistics. In Henson’s opening remarks, he spoke about the growing participation for the Reman ACE Awards and the sustainability of the awards demonstrated by their second presentation.

Remanufacturing ACE Awards trophies were presented to each of the winners along with a scholarship, one in honor of each winner, to award within their communities, encouraging future industry leaders to become more engaged with remanufacturing before graduation.

The Remanufacturing ACE Award winners are:

Advocate

John Disharoon of Caterpillar Inc. is a strong global advocate for remanufacturing. Through his roles at Caterpillar and as chairman of the Remanufacturing Industries Council, he endeavors to support and grow remanufacturing around the world. Disharoon expressed his appreciation for the award saying, “Receiving this award from the Remanufacturing Industries Council is a great honor as I have spent many years advocating on behalf of market access for remanufactured products.  Along with the dedicated and passionate members of RIC, we will continue making a difference in the reman community. And an enormous salute to all of this year’s nominees, each of whom has made important contributions to the reach and impact of remanufacturing.”

Collaborate

Donald Chenevert Jr., deputy general counsel, SRC Holdings Corp., chaired the RIC committee that successfully developed, launched and gained approval of the official ANSI standard for Remanufacturing. This consolidated multiple definitions and created an environment of greater understanding and collaboration within the Remanufacturing community. Chenevert conveyed his gratitude for the award saying, “I am honored and humbled to receive the ACE Award for Collaboration. The Remanufacturing Industries Council reflects the power of collaboration across diverse industries – from aeronautics to electronics to office furniture to engines. As the developer of the ANSI standard for the process of remanufacturing, RIC is in the vanguard promoting and advancing remanufacturing in the United States and around the world.”

Educate

Dr. Matthew Hudson, dean of technical education, Ozarks Technical Community College, developed and implemented new remanufacturing courses offered by the college, covering fundamental remanufacturing principles like core management, inspection and cleaning, salvage and reclamation, repair, and preventative maintenance. Dr. Hudson reflected on the tribute of earning the award saying, “I am so honored by this recognition and proud to partner with industry leaders in an effort to combat the workforce shortage together. I look forward to presenting a student in our community with a scholarship toward their education.”
