Burke Porter Group Acquires Auburn Hills-Based WinterPark Engineering LLC

With more than 75 years of combined automotive industry experience, BPG and WinterPark have completed projects for leading automotive companies around the globe including Fiat Chrysler, Nissan and Hyundai in North America, Europe and Asia.

Burke Porter Group (BPG), a global supplier of intelligent testing instrumentation and assembly systems and solutions, has acquired WinterPark Engineering LLC, a provider of mission-critical engineering services for global emissions and regulatory applications, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Full terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WinterPark specializes in the engineering and regulatory management of emissions and on-board diagnostics (OBD) development and testing. The company serves customers in the automotive, heavy-duty, industrial, marine, government and defense industries.

BPG says the acquisition provides expanded key technology complementary to its emissions testing instruments. WinterPark’s relationships with key regulatory agencies combined with BPG’s direct knowledge and industry-recognized vehicle test systems will allow for greater support to its existing and future customers, according to the company.

“WinterPark’s subject matter expertise with on-board diagnostics and extensive industry knowledge blend well with our testing instrumentation and BPG’s long-term growth goals,” said David DeBoer, CEO of BPG. “This acquisition expands our services offering in diagnostic testing and emissions controls supporting a growing base of customers dealing with complex regulatory compliance requirements.”

The agreement provides for existing management continuity over WinterPark’s business activities with no change in day-to-day business or contacts. Mark Frank will remain as president of WinterPark.

“WinterPark joining the Burke Porter Group combines BPG’s extensive vehicle testing knowledge along with our emissions expertise, bringing a higher level of service to our shared global customers who are addressing significant regulatory change,” said Frank.

With more than 75 years of combined automotive industry experience, BPG and WinterPark have completed projects for leading automotive companies around the globe including Fiat Chrysler, Nissan and Hyundai in North America, Europe and Asia.
