Bar’s Products Acquires Hy-Per Lube Corp.

“Hy-Per Lube is a strategic fit for Bar’s Products because of the brand’s reputation within the automotive industry, particularly among commercial technicians and the automotive trade market,” Bar's Products said.

Bar’s Products, a Holly, Michigan-based manufacturer of automotive repair and performance chemicals for 70 years, has purchased Hy-Per Lube Corp.

“With the acquisition, Bar’s adds the proven Hy-Per Lube brand of high-performance additives to its already impressive family of brands, including Bar’s Leaks, America’s most trusted stop-leak brand since 1947, and Rislone, America’s best-selling engine treatment brand for more than 90 years,” the company said in a news release.

Harold Hilton founded Seattle-based Hy-Per Lube in the early 1950s. At the time, Hilton fabricated high-quality valves for a wide range of industries, including paper and pulp, electrical power generation, petrochemical and marine.

The enormous amount of heat and friction generated by the worm gears within the valves was causing premature wear and failure, so he developed Hy-Per Lube, a high-film-strength, non-foaming, extreme-pressure oil supplement. From that single product grew an entire toolbox of chemical solutions beloved by race teams, master mechanics and car owners, including Hy-Per Lube Zinc Replacement Additive, Super Coolant, Max Octane, Quick Heat, Total Fuel System Cleaner and Diesel Super Coolant.

Hy-Per Lube products complement the extensive Rislone automotive performance chemical catalog and the Bar’s Leaks stop-leak product line, Bar’s Products said.

“Hy-Per Lube is a strategic fit for Bar’s Products because of the brand’s reputation within the automotive industry, particularly among commercial technicians and the automotive trade market,” the company said. “The Hy-Per Lube brand will continue its legacy under the proven management and guidance of Bar’s Products.”

The full line of Bar’s Leaks, Rislone and Hy-Per Lube products will be on display at AAPEX in booth No. 3616 and at the SEMA Show in South Hall booth No. 30309.
