Horizon Global Signs Agreement For Exclusive Use Of SmartKey Technology

SmartKey security allows homeowners the flexibility to re-key all of their Kwikset SmartKey locks for one-key convenience. With the agreement between Horizon and Spectrum Brands, this technology will be installed on hitches, fifth wheels, ball mounts, bike racks, cargo management products and more, and will be utilized on products in the OE, aftermarket and retail spaces.

Horizon Global Corp., one of the world’s leading manufacturers of branded towing and trailering equipment, has entered into an agreement with Spectrum Brands Inc., providing Horizon, including its Cequent and TriMotive divisions, the exclusive right to utilize SmartKey security from the Kwikset brand of Spectrum Brands in a wide range of automotive applications.

With the agreement between Horizon and Spectrum Brands, this technology will be installed on hitches, fifth wheels, ball mounts, bike racks, cargo management products and more, and will be utilized on products in the OE, aftermarket and retail spaces. This use of the innovative technology will allow users the flexibility to use one key to secure both their homes and automotive accessories. SmartKey products also pass the most stringent lock-picking standards (UL 437, par. 11.6) and utilize BumpGuard to prevent lock bumping, providing additional security to your home and automotive accessories.

Products including the SmartKey technology will be on display at the 2016 SEMA show, booth No. 30087, at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas. The show runs from Tuesday, Nov. 1 to Friday, Nov. 4.
