BorgWarner Supplies Latest Alfa Romeo Gasoline Engine With Advanced Engine Timing System

This Alfa Romeo exclusive engine debuts in the new Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan and also will be available for the brand's upcoming SUV.

BorgWarner Inc Alfa RomeoBorgWarner is now supplying its advanced engine timing system for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) all-new aluminum 2.0-liter gasoline engine. This Alfa Romeo exclusive engine debuts in the new Alfa Romeo Giulia sedan and also will be available for the brand’s upcoming SUV. BorgWarner says the state-of-the-art engine timing system includes the company’s next-generation silent timing chain for direct-injected, boosted engines, and helps FCA reach its challenging engine performance goals.

BorgWarner’s engine timing system is designed to reduce mass and friction for improved fuel economy and engine efficiency. The advanced chain has high-quality finishing links and optimized chain link profiles and pins for improved wear performance, the company adds. Featuring a precisely designed geometry to reduce mass, BorgWarner’s silent timing chain offers best-in-class strength and durability as well as the lowest noise, vibration and harshness on the market, according to the company.
