OptiCat LLC Announces ‘ImageSync Service’

The company says this forward-looking product addresses one of the most challenging issues facing aftermarket suppliers and their customers – the fast-growing volume of digital assets required to produce today’s high content electronic catalogs.

OptiCAT - LogoOptiCat has announced the addition of its new ImageSync Service to its OnBoard Pro suite of products and tools. The company says this forward-looking product addresses one of the most challenging issues facing aftermarket suppliers and their customers – the fast-growing volume of digital assets required to produce today’s high content electronic catalogs.

Today, most suppliers send complete files containing all their images to their customers whenever they wish to make changes to their available image database. To make the image transfers, some suppliers use online data transfer and others continue to send hard drives with image information to customers via mail. This forces the customer to decide what images have changed, which ones have been deleted or added, or whether to remove all existing images and replace them with a complete new set. This requires sending significant volumes of image data and added time to accomplish regular image transfers, thereby significantly decreasing speed-to-market. OptiCat’s ImageSync Service allows suppliers and customers to communicate with each other on a basis of “net changes in images,” thus dramatically reducing the data transferred and minimizing the images needing to be processed and handled by the customers.

OptiCat’s Chief Operating Officer Bryan Thueson commented, “This new capability is a game-changer for suppliers and customers alike in streamlining the process of image transfer and requiring significantly less resources for routine image transfer activities. ImageSync will significantly improve speed-to-market for critical image data necessary for an effective and accurate customer sales process.”

As part of the new ImageSync Service, OptiCat provides additional capabilities that allow customers to rename images, where custom naming conventions are required for consistency with the customer’s systems, as well as resizing of images and converting images to other formats. The supplier only needs to provide the highest possible quality image available and OptiCat’s ImageSync Service will do the rest. OptiCat keeps up with the changes and logs all information for clarity and accuracy.

ImageSync Service is available to all OptiCat data receivers and users of its OnBoard Pro suite at no additional cost.
