SKF Signs Wheel-End Unit Agreement With MAN

Having already secured an agreement with Scania, the agreement with MAN now further strengthens SKF’s relationship with Volkswagen Group.

SKF - LogoSKF has signed a three-year agreement with MAN for the supply of truck-matched wheel-end units.

Truck-matched wheel-end units are quicker to assemble and provide a lower total cost of ownership through extended maintenance intervals compared to using standard tapered roller bearings, according to SKF.

The deal is worth SEK 60 million (approximately $7.3 million) and follows the signing of an agreement for similar units with Scania in October 2014. Deliveries to both MAN and Scania are scheduled to begin in September.

Stephane Le Mounier, president, SKF, Automotive Market, commented, “This agreement further extends our relationship with Volkswagen Group’s heavy trucks segment. It also illustrates that our solutions directly benefit both truck manufacturers and end-users, in particular in contributing to synergies between MAN and Scania.”
