EnerSys Sponsors FIRST Championship For Students

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) season concluded at the FIRST Championship, which took place April 22-25 in St. Louis, Missouri.

READING, Pa. – EnerSys has been recognized as a Diamond Level Supplier to the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). The title was awarded as a result of the EnerSys donation of batteries received by the FRC teams in their kits of parts. The FRC season concluded at the FIRST Championship, which took place April 22-25 in St. Louis.

In the FRC, high school students in grades nine through 12 build 120-pound robots designed to complete a task specified by the contest. The St. Louis event is the culmination of six weeks of competition, with teams comprised of students, professional engineers and adult mentors. This year, more than 17,000 students will participate at the FIRST Championship. The international event showcases student teams from FIRST Robotics Competition for students in grades nine through 12; FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) for grades seven through 12; FIRST LEGO League (FLL) for grades four through eight; and Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) for grades K-three.

“We have sponsored the FRC since 2012 and are pleased to continue our association with this inspiring event,” said Maria Orlando-Krick, marketing content and sponsorship manager at EnerSys. “As a company that regularly explores the intersection of science and technology, EnerSys understands the value of STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education that this event provides to students.”
