2014 Consumer Electronics Show A First For Valeo

To support its development in the years ahead, Valeo is presenting three major technologies at this year's CES.

LAS VEGAS – For the first time, Valeo is participating in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), an international trade show dedicated to technological innovation held in Las Vegas Jan. 7-10, 2014. Reflecting its ongoing research and development programs, the company is unveiling new technologies designed to make driving easier and safer, while saving drivers valuable time.

To support its development in the years ahead, Valeo is presenting three major technologies at this year’s CES.

The Automated Valet Parking. Demonstrated at CES in the Driverless Car Experience in the Gold Lot (DC3), this innovation transforms vehicles into their own automated, autonomous valet. The Automated Valet Parking system allows drivers to leave their car at the entrance of a parking lot or structure and let the car find a suitable space to park itself. Drivers remotely activate the fully automatic parking feature using their smartphone. Similarly, they can use their smartphone to call their car to pick them up when they leave.

Eye Control Systems.
Valeo developed a driving assistance system controlled by eye movement that will be demonstrated at the Valeo booth in the Central Plaza (CP10). This eye control technology is based on interaction between the vehicle’s human machine interface (HMI) and the driver’s eyes. Using a gaze detection camera, the driver can change the radio station or get traffic information, among other activities, simply by looking at a control button. When combined with Valeo’s heads-up display (HUD) technology, which projects dashboard controls onto the windshield, this system allows drivers to activate a control without taking their eyes off the road.

FullLED Lighting Systems. Valeo’s FullLED lighting system will be introduced on the new Cadillac Escalade in the United States in 2014. In addition to its innovative design, LED technology makes it possible to develop headlamps that outlast the operational life of the car. When equipped with Valeo’s PremiumLED system, headlights become intelligent; those equipped with BeamAtic PremiumLED provide maximum visibility, without blinding oncoming or passing vehicles.

Valeo says its participation at the 2014 CES aligns with the company’s current innovation strategy, which aims to make driving more intuitive and more intelligent for all vehicle categories. The company’s objective is to create systems that reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption, while at the same time enhance driving enjoyment.
