Optima Batteries Featured in Two New National TV Spots

The spots promote the new Optima Chargers Digital 1200 Battery Charger.

NORTH HILLS, Calif. – Two new commercial spots for Optima Batteries have just debuted on national TV. Developed for Optima by Brentwood Communications International Inc. (BCII) the spots are currently running, or are set to run on SPEED, ESPN, Velocity and the Fox Sports Network. The spots promote the new Optima Chargers Digital 1200 Battery Charger.

“The team at Optima Batteries came up with the marketing idea that their new digital charger would relegate all other battery chargers to doorstop duty,” said Greg Glass, president of BCII. “Working with that phrase, we came up with the spot concept that would feature a series of vignettes showing humorous uses for old battery chargers. Once the vignettes were developed, everyone agreed that using the classic 1970s Ronco TV commercial style would fit perfectly for these spots.”

The Optima team requested that the spots be ‘beat up’ visually, including color hits and static effects, to give them an authentic 1970s low resolution feel. They also requested to frame the vignettes inside a 1970s style television set to bring home the message.

In addition to these two new national TV commercials, BCII is finishing up production on two, one-hour specials for Optima Batteries titled, "The Search for America’s Ultimate Street Car." Both specials will air on SPEED fall 2012, leading up to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational annual one-hour special that BCII will produce for Optima Batteries for the fourth year in a row this November.
