CHANTILLY, Va. The Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association’s (APRA) Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group will host its annual HDRG Summit Jan. 18, 2010, at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas, just prior to the start of the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week.
According to Bill Gager, president of APRA, the information packed program will begin with Joe Kripli, president of Remaco Group in Etters, Pa., who will discuss the role electronics and mechatronics will play in tomorrow’s vehicles. Mechatronics incorporates both electrical and hydraulics to operate and control various systems in the vehicle. The inclusion of these units in vehicles will change the skill sets needed to repair and remanufacture various components. Kripli brings a wealth of pioneering effort in this field to the HDRG Summit.
Also making headlines, today’s fuel systems are playing a greater role in emissions control than ever before and Omar Cueto, CEO of Dieselogic in Jacksonville, Fla., will illustrate the proper use of tests and measures to ensure the capacity of the diesel engine to optimize the regeneration process. His testing programs will prove to be invaluable to the diesel engine rebuilder/remanufacturer. A properly tuned diesel engine can be a real boon to increased fuel economy. Omar will be on-hand to answer questions from attendees following his presentation.
Lein-Lein Chen, an economist with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, will talk about the state of the economy and where she sees it heading. Dr. Chen has been a popular speaker at other APRA clinics and will provide insightful direction to your strategic outlook.
“A Forward Look at Electric and Hydraulic Commercial Vehicles” will be the topic for Al Lesesky, president of Vehicle Enhancement Systems of Rock Hill, S.C. Lesesky is at the forefront of new vehicle technologies and will offer some new looks at what’s going on in the electric and hydraulic vehicle power field.
With all the recent public discussion regarding carbon offsets and carbon footprints APRA is excited to have Dr. Michael Readey, president of Aeris Analytics of Boulder, Colo., on the schedule. Readey has extensive experience in this area with Caterpillar Remanufacturing and will offer some insight into developing new competitive strategies on how to leverage your carbon footprints. Greenhouse gases will continue to be an issue for remanufacturing businesses well into the future, so attendees will benefit from a better understanding of the process.
An additional highlight of the HDRG Summit is the annual “Remanufacturer of the Year” Awards Luncheon. To register for the Summit or for complete program details, visit www.hdrg.org.
