ZF Sachs to Supply Heavy-Duty Rear Shocks to Daimler Trucks North America

NORTHVILLE, MI — ZF Sachs – the Powertrain and Suspension Components division of ZF – has been awarded the contract to supply all production heavy-duty twin-tube chassis and cab shock absorbers for Daimler Trucks North America (formerly known as Freightliner LLC) vehicles.

The shocks will be produced at the ZF Sachs facility in Guadalajara, Mexico. Full series production will begin in March 2008.

ZF Sachs currently supplies the production shock absorbers for the front suspension and rear air vocational suspension on most Daimler Trucks North America Class 8 vehicles, as well as the front and rear suspension shocks for the motor home chassis division of Daimler Trucks North America (formerly known as Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation).

“ZF has enjoyed a solid relationship with Daimler Trucks North America – not only with shock absorbers, but in chassis and powertrain components as well, and this new contract is a clear result of it,” said Jim King, director of Sales, Heavy Commercial Vehicles, ZF Sachs Suspension Division. “Our goal is to provide the best possible ride quality to Daimler Trucks North America, with exceptional durability and quality. ZF Sachs heavy-duty twin-tube shocks will now be used in the complete lineup of all Daimler Trucks North America vehicles, providing fleet and owner-operator customers alike with shock absorbers that have demonstrated improved overall ride and handling quality characteristics.”
