Professional Marketing Advance Auto Parts
After graduating from Michigan State University in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, Susan Trevaskis landed a sales and marketing position at Black & Decker. It turned out to be “an incredible career experience,” and as she approached her five-year anniversary at Black & Decker, she wasn’t thinking about making a career change. Then, she heard about an opportunity in the automotive aftermarket.
“I was in my late-20s, and it was truly the hardest career decision I had been faced with,” says Trevaskis. “Admittedly, I second-guessed it.”
In April 2009, Trevaskis left Black & Decker to join Advance Auto Parts as an area sales manager. While she worried about the decision at first, Trevaskis has no regrets today as she looks back on her 12-year career with Advance.
“I’ve been so fortunate over the years to work with incredible people – both internally as well as with suppliers, vendors and customers – and it seems like we all share a passion for making a positive difference in the aftermarket,” says Trevaskis, now director of professional marketing for Advance.
Trevaskis is especially proud of Advance’s involvement in Brakes for Breasts, a campaign that supports the Cleveland Clinic Breast Cancer Vaccine Research Fund.
“Truly this is my favorite campaign every year because we have the opportunity to connect our work to a cause that’s so important in the world and to me, and it touches so many of us.”
