How did you begin your career in the aftermarket?

I answered a three-line add in the newspaper for a sales secretary in the early ‘90s.

What is the proudest accomplishment of your career, thus far?

Being promoted to VP of Retail Sales at 35 years old.

What is your best advice to other women who want to excel in the automotive aftermarket? What is one thing the industry could do better or do differently to support women in the aftermarket?

I believe our industry supports women. When I started there weren’t many women at all, but I believe it was because the interest wasn’t there by women. I remember the feeling being that you had to have an interest in cars and trucks to begin with … a lot of us developed the love and passion for vehicles after being a part of this industry. Also, we are a different industry today with amazing complexities and innovation which is drawing more women to this exciting industry.

What do you believe are some of the most important skillsets to excel in a career in the aftermarket today?

Continue learning and listening. There is an abundance of knowledge to pull from with experienced peers. And never be afraid to ask questions.
