PARIS Valeo’s highly efficient torque convertors, which are now produced in a new plant in Mexico, have allowed the group to win significant new business in North America, according to the company.
This technology has been chosen to equip the new six-speed generations of automatic transmissions on Ford’s best-selling F-Series "Super Duty" trucks and is also represented on the new 6-speed frontwheel drive transmissions of General Motors equipping several GM Group passenger car models.
Valeo’s compact torque converters offer superior shifting quality and reduce vibrations and noise, the company says. In addition, they contribute to significant fuel savings and emissions reduction of more than 6 percent while providing a dynamic driving experience.
A dedicated 21,000-square-meter production plant has been built in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and volume production started earlier this year. This plant complements existing torque converter facilities in Atsugi-shi, Japan; Seongju, Korea; and Nanjing, China.
Valeo says it aims to further its presence in this market, particularly in China and the U.S., and expects to be among the world leaders for torque converters by 2013.
Valeo is an independent industrial group fully focused on the design, production and sale of components, integrated systems and modules for the automotive industry, mainly for CO2 emissions reduction.
