OAK BROOK, IL — United Plastics Group, Inc., a full service contract manufacturer in the automotive, electronics, medical and consumer market segments, has changed its name to UPG.
"The name change reflects our success over the past few years at broadening our services and global reach," said Richard Harris, CEO. "We have evolved from molding components to providing a full range of product development and manufacturing solutions. Also, we have added capacity in the U.S., Mexico, China and Europe," adds Harris. "Today, UPG offers an extraordinary value proposition — high quality, fully-assembled and packaged products at very competitive total costs. Our customers range from entrepreneurial start-ups to the world’s largest companies."
UPG services include application design, tooling engineering, processing, manufacturing, program management and supply chain management for projects that range from injection-molded plastic components to semi-finished subassemblies to multifaceted fully-finished final products.
The name change announcement is concurrent with the official grand opening of the company’s third Mexican manufacturing location in the north-western Baja Mexico region. The new 62,000-square-foot facility in Tijuana, a white room environment throughout, includes a Class 100,000 clean room, and serves UPG’s growing roster of customers, particularly those that require the stringent quality control and manufacturing specifications typically associated with the medical, consumer and electronics industries.
UPG has manufactured components and assemblies for a broad spectrum of products for the medical, automotive, electronics and consumer segments. In the automotive arena, UPG focuses on engineering and technology-driven solutions, providing product design and development and the capability of molding up to 980 tons for applications such as interior and exterior injection-molded plastic components and assemblies for OEMs and their suppliers.
