Uni-Select’s board of directors appoints André Courville as its new chair. Shareholders also elected President and CEO Henry Buckley and Michelle Ann Cormier as directors.
Uni-Select Inc. announced that its board of directors has appointed independent corporate director André Courville as its new chair. The announcement was made following the 2015 Annual and Special Meeting of Shareholders held last week.
Courville has been an independent director of Uni-Select since 2014. With a solid track record in mergers and acquisitions, as well as proven competencies in accounting and auditing, he was chair of the Audit Committee and a member of Uni-Select’s Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee this past year. Courville succeeds Robert Chevrier in this role. Chevrier decided to retire at the meeting.
During the meeting address, Henry Buckley, president and CEO of Uni-Select, expressed his gratitude for Chevrier’s contribution as chair over the past four years: “I cannot thank Robert enough for his guidance, wisdom and support, key factors which contributed to Uni-Select’s growth over the years. On behalf of his fellow board members and of my 2,800 colleagues, I wish him all the best for the new challenges that await him. We are confident that his legacy will continue to inspire us as we move forward under our new leadership.
“We are pleased to see such a seasoned and accomplished leader as Mr. Courville take over the role of chair and very much look forward to working closely with him and all of our directors in creating value for our shareholders,” added Buckley.
At the meeting, the shareholders of the corporation also elected Buckley as a new director and also elected Michelle Ann Cormier as a new independent director.
The 10 directors proposed for election at the meeting were elected by a majority of the votes cast by the shareholders present or represented by proxy at the meeting. The directors will remain in office until the next annual meeting of shareholders or until their successors are elected or appointed.
