Michael Antonelli of Vantage Marketing Global and California Automotive Wholesalers’ Association (CAWA) chairman, has appointed Tom Skov of Genuine Parts Co. – NAPA to the association’s board of directors. Antonelli said, “The Genuine Parts Co. – NAPA has been a member and major supporter of CAWA for some time. Thus, we are pleased to welcome Mr. Skov as their representative to our association’s leadership.”
Skov is the divisional vice president for the Western Division of NAPA Auto Parts. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Fresno State University in 1994. Shortly after graduation, he started in the automotive aftermarket as a manufacturer’s representative for Dana Corp., selling to NAPA Auto Part stores in Southern California and Mexico.
Skov joined Genuine Parts Co. and NAPA San Diego as an outside salesperson in 2002 and quickly learned how to run NAPA Auto Part stores. In 2007, he was promoted to district sales manager, and seven months later he was promoted to DC sales manager. One year later, he was promoted again to district manager, and moved to general manager in San Diego in January 2010. There he built a strong team and led them to a Triple Crown performance in 2011.
That performance led to Skov being promoted to general manager of NAPA Phoenix in 2012. After arriving in Phoenix, he promptly led the Phoenix operation to a Triple Crown in 2012, as well as winning the coveted President’s Award that same year. In 2015, he was promoted to the divisional vice president for Genuine Parts Co.’s Automotive Parts Group’s Western Division.
