In other parts of the U.S., Automotive Parts Headquarters held its annual Chili Cook-off, which netted $257,000 for a local Wisconsin nonprofit organization to assist adults with disabilities, and three of SMP's largest customers took Chairman Larry Sills out to lunch after he and the SMP leadership team rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange, in honor of SMP's 100th anniversary this year.

After ringing the opening bell on the New York Stock Exchange July 30, in celebration of its 100th anniversary, some of Standard Motor Products’ largest customers and oldest friends took SMP Chairman Larry Sills to lunch in New York to celebrate. Federated member Hovis Auto & Truck Supply hosted its seventh annual Cruise-In in July and as usual, it was a big success. Over 430 cars, trucks and motorcycles participated in the Cruise-In and the participants helped raise over $4,000 as well as collected two full pallets of toys that will be donated to U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.
“We want to thank everyone who participated in our Cruise-In and also thank them for their generous donations to Toys for Tots,” said Cliff Hovis, president of Hovis Auto & Truck Supply. “It was a beautiful day and we had a great turnout. This was by far the most successful car show that we’ve had yet.”
Crowds enjoyed more than 430 cool cars at the event.
Featured at the car show were the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Mustang show car and its Monster Energy Cup track simulators. Also on site were a 2015 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, one of only 60 in the world, and Harley Davidson crate motorcycles that have never been out of their crates.
Earlier this summer it was Federated night at the Midvale Speedway in New Philadelphia, Ohio, and Federated member Fisher Auto Parts made the most of it by raising over $1,300 for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.
Besides hosting customers and employees for a night of racing, Fisher also set up a tent at the track where they conducted an auction with items collected from local businesses. All proceeds from the auction were then donated to Toys for Tots.
Fisher will host another fund raising and customer appreciation event later this summer at the Barberton Speedway in Ohio.
Brake Parts Inc (BPI) partnered with NAPA to raise funds for the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF), an organization that serves U.S. military personnel experiencing traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and post-traumatic stress (PTS) by building advanced treatment centers with the best TBI and PTS care. BPI was invited to purchase “We Believe in Heroes” t-shirts featuring the company’s logo during NAPA’s Military Month and a donation was made to IFHF for every shirt ordered. BPI ordered t-shirts so employees throughout the organization could have the opportunity to sport the special shirt.
During the final stop of the 89th Annual Auto Value Product Expo Tour, Automotive Parts Headquarters Inc . (APH), in partnership with more than 50 manufacturers’ representatives, hosted its ninth annual chili cook-off. Donations were matched by both APH and the Bartlett family, pushing this year’s grand total to $257,000. A check was presented in a recent ceremony to the management team at WACOSA, a nonprofit day program for adults with disabilities in central Minnesota. WACOSA provides meaningful work for more than 650 people and connects that workforce to local businesses.
