According to Babcox Research, brake shops source more than half of their parts purchases through the traditional channel (jobber/WDs). Retailers and OE dealers were used the most frequently thereafter, 16 percent and 15 percent of the time, respectively. Other options included Expediters (8 percent), Manufacturer Direct (5 percent), Online (2 percent) and Other (four percent).

Jobber: 91 percent
OEM Dealer: 89 percent
Retailer: 61 percent
Manuf. Direct: 26 percent
Expediter: 25 percent
Online: 18 percent
Other:16 percent
On average, 69.4 percent of total parts purchases were bought from a shop’s main supplier, according to survey respondents.
