On average, shops that responded to the Counterman magazine Professional Automotive Repair Technician Survey (P.A.R.T.S.) perform 10 jobs a month requiring chassis parts. Yet, only 22 percent of shops said they keep these parts in stock. When it comes time to place an order, they rely on 3.1 sources, on average, to restock.
Roughly half of survey respondents said that jobbers are their first call for chassis parts. As the chart here illustrates, those trusted sources are valued most for their strong sales reps, fast delivery and consistent availability. Like many categories, brand is key when it comes to chassis parts, with a whopping 83 percent of survey respondents reporting that they only use a brand they trust.
