One of the most-read stories of the week was news that UCI International had filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering. UCI International, through its subsidiary United Components, owns Airtex, Champion Laboratories, Wells Manufacturing and ASC.

In other top news this week, MAHLE Clevite Inc. recently added the Cummins electronic catalog to the heavy duty section of Launchpad (a portal of eCatalogs). The new catalog provides a convenient way to search, view and purchase all Cummins engine parts and engine kits within one user experience.
Users can easily search for Cummins engine parts and kits either by selecting an engine model from the drop-down menu or by entering the OE number or CPL number. Once a selection has been made, search results matching the request will appear, showing the various engine parts and kits available.
Schaeffler Group USA Inc. announced the expansion of the LuK RepSet line of clutches, flywheels and hydraulic release systems. The LuK program now includes more than 750 clutch set and 180 flywheel SKUs, covering the North American vehicle population. Make and model coverage ranges from 1938 to date.

Lastly, Joseph Lescota, chair of the Automotive Marketing department at Northwood University, has announced the selection of Brandon Postema for general chair of the 2010 Northwood University International Auto Show (NUIAS) and James Hannah for vice chair. Northwood University students will host the 47th annual NUIAS Oct. 15-17. The Auto Show is held on the Michigan Campus of Northwood University located at 4000 Whiting Drive in Midland. This year’s theme is "Electrify the Drive: Sparking a Global Revolution."
