BEDFORD, IN — Visteon Corp. is using temporary workers in an attempt to maintain production at its Bedford, Ind., plant while union members continue to strike.
The strike, which began Sunday, is being led by members of the International Union of Electrical Workers-Communications Workers of America Local 907. In April, Visteon announced it would halt product of fuel-delivery modules at the plant, which could mean the loss of up to 600 jobs for the plant.
Violence erupted at the plant on Tuesday as two cars were flipped and one set on fire, as strikers tried to block four busloads of temporary workers from entering the plan. According to the Detroit Free Press, this is the latest in several confrontations that have taken place at the plant since the union rejected a contract offer. The plant was quiet on Wednesday, according to published reports.
