The company begins production on the XLH hybrid electric system for model year 2018 Ford Super Duty F-250 pickups in March.
The investments brings XL Hybrids’ total funding to more than $50 million to date for the development, sale and distribution of fleet vehicle electrification solutions to major customers across North America.
The State of Massachusetts placed this new order after seeing successful results from past vehicle conversions by XL Hybrids for the DCR and Environmental Police vehicles.
The XLP technology will be installed in MY17 and MY18 Ford F-150 pickups with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine and Ford’s Auto Stop-Start technology.

The order allows aftermarket conversions of gasoline-powered Ford Transit cargo vans and passenger wagons to be upgraded with the XL3 Hybrid Electric Drive System.
Ford has had a QVM program for vehicle modifications since the mid-1980s. Several years ago, Ford asked XL Hybrids to participate in developing the electrification “eQVM” program, which includes Ford’s common vehicle modifier guidelines, while also developing additional guidelines specific for electrification solutions.
