Stant Introduces Fuel Management Isolation Valve At Tank Tech Conference In Germany

The product is designed as a unique solution for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles’ (PHEV) pressurized fuel system isolation.

Stant introduced its new fuel management isolation valve (FMIV) at the recent Tank Tech conference held in Munich, Germany. This product is designed as a unique solution for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles’ (PHEV) pressurized fuel system isolation.

Tank Tech event management invited John Long, global director of engineering, vapor management products for Stant, to present the new technology at the conference.

As one of the only suppliers that produces all major vapor management components within the fuel system, Stant is a leading supplier of flow management valves for integrated fuel systems, says the company. Its fuel management isolation valve uses the flow management valve (FMV) with added coil as a means to actuate a bleed valve. The bleed valve, signaled by the operator that refueling operation is desired, allows the diaphragm to open and depressurize the system. The Stant FMIV is smaller, using almost half of the amount of copper to produce the equivalent function when compared to today’s designs, resulting in an overall mass reduction in size through the unique method of opening valve main diaphragm seal by small pilot bleed, according to the company.

Every two years, the automotive and supplier industries gather at the Tank Tech conference to discuss current technologies and innovations in the area of fuel and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems. The 2017 conference was dedicated to reviewing new powertrain trends and their requirements on fuel storing systems and component architecture and functionalities. Other topics discussed included tank systems for alternative powertrain technologies and their development methodologies from simulation to testing.

“We were thrilled to be able to introduce our new fuel management isolation valve at Tank Tech,” said Tim King, senior vice president of global sales for Stant Corp. “As a premier global automotive conference, it was an honor to have John present to this esteemed group of industry leaders.”
