CHARLOTTE, NC — Head of SPX Corp. John Blystone has retired and resigned from his positions as chairman, president and CEO. He has also given up his seat on the company’s board of directors. Blystone said he is stepping down to spend more time with his family.
Blystone joined SPX in December 1995. During his nine years leading the company, he helped transform SPX from a small automotive supplier into a global multi-industry company.
Following Blystone’s resignation, the SPX board made certain changes in its senior management.
The board has separated the position of chairman and CEO, appointing director Charles Johnson II as chairman of the board. Christopher Kearney has been appointed to serve as president and CEO.
Jay Caraviello and Thomas Riordan have been appointed executive vice presidents and co-COOs of the company. Patrick O’Leary will continue as CFO and treasurer, and has been promoted to executive vice president. Robert Foreman will continue as head of human resources and has been promoted to senior vice president.
