Spireon Appoints New Chief Product Officer

In this role, Rick Penkethman will lead the next wave of innovation for Spireon’s products and platform, creating vehicle connectivity solutions that maximize customer value.

spireon-logoSpireon Inc., a leader in telematics, risk management and location-based business intelligence solutions, has announced the appointment of veteran telematics executive Jason Penkethman as its chief product officer, reporting to Rick Gruenhagen, chief technology officer at Spireon. In this role, Penkethman will lead the next wave of innovation for Spireon’s products and platform, creating vehicle connectivity solutions that maximize customer value.

He is an accomplished product leader with deep telematics experience in the wireless, transportation and data markets,” said Gruenhagen. “Jason will drive further innovation across our existing product lines and develop exciting new solutions to provide greater value for our customers.”

Penkethman brings extensive experience in telematics, mobile and cloud-based technologies. Prior to joining Spireon, he played a central role at Telogis, leading its connected vehicle product initiatives with major automotive companies such as GM and Ford, including expansion into new verticals and international markets.

Prior to Telogis, Penkethman was vice president of product management and marketing at Comtech, focused on navigation and telematics, and corporate vice president of engineering at Smith Micro leading mobile enterprise software development. Penkethman also has held mobile device technology leadership roles with Hewlett-Packard, Nokia and Motorola and has international experience working in Finland, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.
