SKF Vehicle Aftermarket To Unveil TraX Wheel End Monitor

SKF will debut its TraX Wheel End Monitor in booth no. 13111 at the TMC 2021 Annual Fall Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition.

SKF Vehicle Aftermarket is optimizing the end-user experience with the debut of its TraX Wheel End Monitor (WEM) in booth no. 13111 at the American Trucking Association (ATA) Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) 2021 Annual Fall Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition. This year’s event will be held Sept. 12 to 16 at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio.

The SKF TraX Wheel End Monitor (WEM) is a sensor unit installed on the wheels of heavy-duty vehicles to intelligently monitor wheel end vibration and temperature to detect potential issues such as impending bearing failures. It is integrated with telematics service providers to notify the driver of needed fleet maintenance via wireless communication in advance of potential wheel end conditions that could compromise performance and safety. In the event that problematic conditions are detected, notification is typically provided thousands of miles before likely service interruption.

“The SKF TraX WEM helps prevent unscheduled downtime by carefully monitoring each wheel end’s vibration and temperature in near real-time,” said SKF Vehicle Aftermarket Director of Fleet Sales Michael Hartman. “By detecting a potential problem in advance, fleets can avoid costly repairs, damaged reputations and dangerous traffic hazards. The SKF TraX WEM not only has the potential to save money, but also helps to protect the lives of drivers and others on the road around them.”

Also highlighted during this year’s show will be the company’s full line of vehicle aftermarket components including SKF wheel end, engine and transmission products. In addition, SKF will feature its bearing, tooling and lubrication and corrosion solutions that underpin these important systems to help a heavy-duty commercial truck perform properly.

“As the world leader in bearings and a trusted heavy-duty vehicle aftermarket partner with decades of industry experience, SKF is committed to making the world better by investing in continuous innovation and state-of-the-art products that are engineered with the customer in mind,” continued Hartman. “The SKF TraX WEM is the latest solution in our lineage of dependable wheel end offerings and is designed to provide safety and convenience to the driver and deliver lower total cost of ownership for fleet operators.”
