The Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum, one of the world’s greatest collections of racing sports cars, has selected CTEK as its Official Supplier of Charger/Maintainers. Located in Philadelphia, the Simeone Museum contains more than 65 historically significant cars, including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Mercedes, Jaguar, Bentley, Porsche, Aston Martin, Corvette, Ford and more. The museum also is one of the few places in the world where you can actually see rare cars like these run. The museum hosts semi-monthly “Demonstration Days,” where selected cars from the collection are driven on the large lot in back of the facility.
“We are pleased to be able to select CTEK as our partner here at the Simeone Museum,” said Executive Director and Founder Dr. Fred Simeone. “All of our cars are kept in peak running condition and we try to take each one out for a Demo Day on a rotating basis. This means their batteries must always be in top condition. That’s a tough job but one that CTEK chargers/maintainers have proven they can handle.”
The museum includes a number of historically significant racing sports cars, including the first Cobra Daytona Coupe ever built (CSX2287), the Bugatti “Tank” that won the 1937 Le Mans, the “Hippie” Porsche 917, and, the crown jewel of the collection, the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B MM that won the 1938 Mille Miglia.
The museum will be using CTEK MXS 5.0 chargers, the newest member of the CTEK family. The CTEK MXS 5.0 has an automatic temperature sensor to ensure the duration and rate of charge is exactly the amount needed. The microprocessor-controlled CTEK MXS 5.0 (part No. 40-206) is the first in a new generation of smart chargers that is able to sense the battery condition throughout the charging cycle, avoiding overcharging that can damage cells and shorten battery life.
“We are honored that the Simeone Museum has selected CTEK to play an important role in the maintenance of these important cars,” said Bobbie DuMelle, executive vice president of CTEK North America. “We also hope to help the museum save money since the proprietary technology in CTEK chargers can help to significantly extend battery life.”
Assembled over a span of 50 years by Dr. Frederick Simeone, the museum was voted “Museum of the Year” by the International Historic Motoring Awards in 2011, the first year the prestigious award was presented.
