Continental Product Lines Now Include VDO and ATE

The VDO and ATE brands are now part of the Continental Corporation’s product portfolio. The addition of the VDO lines of electric motors, engine management, instrumentation, and door systems comes as part of the acquisition of Siemens VDO AG by Continental AG. The ATE lines of brake rotors, pads, and service parts had already been part of the Continental portfolio. Along with the VDO and ATE lines, Continental now offers a complete line of TPMS replacement parts under the Continental brand.

NASCAR Performance Offers Ultimate Car Makeover Sweepstakes

NASCAR Performance, NASCAR’s exclusive automotive marketing program, is inviting NASCAR fans to enter the Ultimate NASCAR Performance Makeover Sweepstakes at www.NASCAR.COM/makeover between Aug. 23 and Oct. 19. The grand prize winner will receive a complete vehicle makeover, courtesy of Goodyear Gemini, with parts provided by NASCAR Performance automotive partners. The winner will also receive apparel and accessories of their favorite driver, a Sprint FanVie and a VIP trip to the final race of the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Fla.

SEMA Awards More Than $130,000 in Scholarships

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) is awarding 93 students more than $130,000 in scholarships for the 2008-2009 academic year. The SEMA Memorial Scholarship Fund began awarding scholarships to students pursuing careers in the automotive industry in 1984. As a benefit of SEMA membership, SEMA also presented the Loan Forgiveness Scholarship Award to qualified graduates with outstanding student loans, who have worked at a SEMA member company for at least one year.

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems Adds Two Execs to Management Team

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems has added two executives to its management team in an effort to further support its plan to achieve $1 billion in sales by the end of the decade. The North American leader in active safety and brake system technologies has appointed Robert Legato as vice president of integrated supply chain. Bill Mossing has been promoted to vice president and general manager of modules.

IndyCar Series Takes to the Gold Coast this Fall

The IndyCar Series will travel to Surfers Paradise, Australia, for the Gold Coast Indy 300 on Oct. 26, the first IndyCar Series event in the country. The 2.75-mile, 14-turn street circuit in Queensland has hosted Champ Car and CART events since 1991. Following the event at Surfers Paradise, the IndyCar Series will continue its post-season celebration with a championship banquet in Las Vegas.
