The U.S. DOT announced a series of initiatives, including a proposed $4 billion over 10 years for automated and connected vehicle pilot projects to encourage development and adoption of vehicle safety technologies. In addition, NHTSA’s enhanced New Car Assessment Program places a focus on safety technology for crash avoidance, pedestrian detection and protection.
