Guy Bargnes has spent his entire life in the collision repair industry. He was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, where his father ran a family business, V. H. Bargnes Co., Inc., which distributed automotive paints, supplies and equipment to area collision shops. In 1992 Bargnes joined BASF full-time, and he is now director of marketing, North American Operations, for the Refinish Group. Bargnes recently sat down to a phone interview with aftermarketNews and shared with us some of the insights from his lifelong career in the industry. Cooper Tools to Stop Making Certain Products, Plans to Lay Off 130

The Cooper Tools division of Houston-based Cooper Industries Ltd. said Thursday it will stop making certain products within its screwdriver bits and socket lines, and will lay off 130 out of 265 employees from its Dayton operation. The Dayton location makes the high-end industrial product line of Apex screwdriver bits and sockets, primarily for automotive and general industry fastening applications, and the Apex universal joint product line serving aerospace and military applications.

New Aftermarket Foundation Video to be Shown at AAPEX Town Hall Meeting

In an effort to increase industry awareness of the philanthropic organization, the Aftermarket Foundation has developed a new marketing video, along with a redesigned Web site and brochure. The approximately seven-minute video, shot by former NASCAR Performance producer Joe DePaulis, will be unveiled at the Town Hall meeting, which takes place this fall during the 2004 AAPEX Show.
