PLANO, Texas — Safety-Kleen Systems, a North American-based business that provides used oil recycling and re-refining, parts cleaning and environmental solutions, has announced the acquisition of two businesses this month.
Safety-Kleen has acquired the assets of Atlantic Industrial Services Inc. (AISI), headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., one of the largest collectors and recyclers of used oil, oil filters and antifreeze in the Southeast. The acquisition includes 10 Atlantic locations, more than 100 experienced personnel and a fleet of approximately 150 vehicles.
“For more than 10 years, AISI has supported thousands of used oil generators and industrial clients with their management of used industrial fluids,” said Safety-Kleen CEO and President Frederick Florjancic. “Now, those customers will gain the benefits of Safety-Kleen’s broad set of environmental management solutions, as well as those services previously provided by AISI.”
With approximately 4,300 employees and more than 200 facilities across the U.S. and Canada, Safety-Kleen operates North America’s largest network of used oil collection and re-refining, industrial cleaning and environmental services.
“The focus of AISI on collecting and processing used oil and related industrial fluids fits well Safety-Kleen’s plans for growth through acquisition,” said Florjancic. “And for former AISI customers, this will be a totally seamless transition it is a top priority for us to ensure that there will be no interruption of service to AISI customers. Florjancic also said that current AISI service agreements and schedules will be honored.
“AISI customers are important to us,” Florjancic said. “We welcome them as they join our existing base of 330,000 customers and gain the advantage of our North American presence and broad line of environmental products and services.”
Also this month, Safety-Kleen acquired the assets of oil management services firm Gateway Petroleum Co., based in Belleville, Ill. Gateway provides used oil management services to customers in the eastern Missouri, central and southern Illinois, and Cape Girardeau areas.
“The acquisition of Gateway Petroleum continues our strategic plans for growth in the oil services sector, and Gateway customers will now have access to the full range of Safety-Kleen’s environmental services and products,” said Florjancic.
Since 1974, Gateway Petroleum has served more than 4,500 customer locations with collection services for used oil and oil filters, as well as providing parts cleaners and windshield washer fluids.
Florjancic said Gateway customers will experience a seamless transition, with no interruptions in service. Safety-Kleen will also honor current service agreements and schedules for existing Gateway Petroleum customers.
