Royal Purple Lubricants Taps DJ Funkmaster Flex to Showcase Its Latest Performance Products

This latest agreement comes on the heels of Royal Purple's successful partnership with Funkmaster Flex in 2009.

PORTER, Texas — Royal Purple high-performance lubricants announced it is once again tapping New York DJ Funkmaster Flex to promote its latest lines of lubricants. Flex will showcase Royal Purple products in his new television series "Funk Flex Full Throttle" and during his popular national Custom Car and Bike Show tour. Royal Purple will be featured as the official lubricant of the show and tour.

A New York City native, Funkmaster Flex is synonymous with hip hop. For more than a decade, he has reigned as America’s #1 Hip Hop DJ personality, reaching more than 2 million listeners a week through his popular radio show. His production talents and artist relationships have earned him five gold records for major-label mix albums. Funkmaster Flex has successfully connected his hip hop celebrity status to the auto industry to become a guru of car customization culture. Through his high-profile custom-car club, Team Baurtwell, Flex has customized cars for attention-drawing personalities in film, music and professional sports. His eight-city Custom Car and Bike Show keeps him constantly connected with the latest trends and styles happening in the automotive industry. His previous television series include the first season of Fast Machines with Funkmaster Flex and Rides with Funkmaster Flex, which aired on SPIKE TV, and All Muscle and Car Wars with Funkmaster Flex, which aired on ESPN.

This latest agreement comes on the heels of Royal Purple’s successful partnership with Funkmaster Flex in 2009.

"Whether it’s inspiring a young person to become a mechanic or educating a celebrity on muscle cars, Flex always gives 110 percent and that is why Royal Purple is renewing its commitment to him in 2010."

"I hope my tour and show provide an excellent platform to showcase their talents, inspire new ideas and keep things poppin’ in 2010. On March 13, Funkmaster Flex will kick off his Custom Car & Bike Show Tour in Daytona Beach, Fla., with featured artist New Boyz. The tour will then move across the country featuring artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj and Fabolous. Each stop will features the hottest customized rides in competition for cash prizes, model and recording talent search along with the added 2010 bonus of the Funkmaster Flex Lifestyle Expo. It will feature sneaker and DJ battles, video game competitions, skateboard demos along with discounted prices on the hottest shoes, fitted hats and underground gear. Royal Purple will be showcasing its hot XPR – Extreme Performance and Racing motor oil, RP filters, Synchromax and Max ATF transmission fluids and other new additives. The tour is currently scheduled for the following cities: Edison, N.J.; Hartford, Conn.; Allentown, Pa., and White Plains, N.Y., throughout the summer.

Royal Purple products will also be used on all of Flex’s 2010 project cars ranging from a 1965 Buick Riveria and 1971 Plymouth Road Runner to a 2010 Ford Mustang. Each ride will be featured on Flex’s newest TV show "Funk Flex Full Throttle" beginning in April to air on a major cable network. In each episode, he will detail the customization of the cars with celebrities like Snoop Dog and Alicia Keyes and the performance enhancements he makes including the use of Royal Purple’s performance products.
