CHICAGO Stephen Polk, chairman, president and CEO of R. L. Polk & Co., and Mark Seng, VP of Polk’s Global Aftermarket Operations, yesterday presented two awards to leading aftermarket companies that demonstrated significant positive changes in their operations thanks to process improvements relative to inventory efficiency.
The fifth annual Polk Inventory Efficiency Awards were presented during the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium taking place this week in Chicago.
In introducing the awards, AAIA’s Kathleen Schmatz said, “There are companies in our industry that have taken bold steps and that deserve to be recognized and awarded, and that’s what the Polk Inventory Efficiency award is all about. More than simply recognizing, the awards are also about driving best practices and encourage knowledge sharing within our industry.”
Polk presents the awards in two categories. In the Manufacturer category, this year’s winner is Gates Corp. Jeff Brekke, president of the North American automotive aftermarket division for Gates, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
In the Retail/Distribution category, Uni-Select USA was named this year’s winner. Uni-Select’s President and CEO, Richard Roy, accepted his company’s award.
“This belongs to the good people at Uni-Select USA that have worked extremely hard for this,” said Roy. “I want to thank them. It is their award.”
Stay tuned for more in-depth information on this year’s winners, and their award-winning projects, next week.
