CLOVER, SC — David Mohr has been promoted to vice president technical and OE sales at Performance Friction Corp. (PFC), a manufacturer of automotive brake pads and rotors with OE, motorsports and aftermarket applications.
Mohr joined PFC in 1994 as a materials scientist. He is credited with advancing PFC’s involvement in racing, supporting OEM projects with Ford, GM and Chrysler, and continually improving PFC’s Carbon Metallic friction materials for fleet applications. He previously managed the materials science, disc pad design and dyno/vehicle testing departments.
Mohr has actively pursued the development of high performance/high temperature composites for more than 20 years. After graduating from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a short stint as a research chemist at the Rohm and Haas Co. in Philadelphia, he returned to Georgia Tech to complete his M.S. and PhD degrees, specializing in polymers and composites.
While at Georgia Tech, Mohr authored more than 20 publications. After developing improved processing technology for carbon fibers (funded by the U.S. Navy), he then joined the Georgia Tech Research Institute’s (GTRI) Energy and Materials Science Laboratory where he concentrated on high temperature composites, where he utilized his skills for high temperature ceramic composite testing lab at GTRI for U.S. DOE projects. His work has inspired significant development worldwide, according to PFC.
