Pennzoil Returns to LVS for Fifth-Annual Pennzoil 400

The Pennzoil Proving Grounds will return in-person for race weekend excitement and offer virtual fan experiences online.

Pennzoil is back at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to host the fifth-annual Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube as part of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) race season. The season is off to a fast start, and Pennzoil says it is eager to bring fans from near and far in on the race action. The Pennzoil Proving Grounds will return in-person for race weekend excitement and offer virtual fan experiences online. The NASCAR drivers will start their engines at the Pennzoil 400 at 12:30 PM PST on Sunday, March 6, and the race will be broadcast live on FOX.

The Pennzoil Proving Grounds will be taking place both in-person and virtually to bring fans along for the ride during the triple header weekend. Pennzoil says the in-person Pennzoil Proving Grounds will be jam-packed with activations throughout the race weekend, including:

  • Powered by Pennzoil Vehicle Display: Fans are encouraged to stop by and check out special vehicles from professional fun-haver Chelsea DeNofa, Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) and Expedition Overland. Additionally, Pennzoil will showcase a Next Generation Racecar at the Proving Grounds.
  • Michael’s Motor Alley Podcast: Pennzoil podcast, Michael’s Motor Alley, will film content throughout the weekend. Have questions about Pennzoil motor oils? Wave down the podcast host, Michael Thomas, for a chance to be featured on the podcast.
  • Women’s History Month: March is Women’s History Month, and to celebrate Pennzoil will honor esteemed women who support the US Military Motor Pool. The remarkable women will be recognized during the Pennzoil 400 pre-race ceremony at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. 

2022 Pennzoil Virtual Proving Grounds Highlights 

For fans who want to be a part of the Pennzoil 400 race weekend but aren’t able to join in-person, Pennzoil is bringing back the Virtual Proving Grounds.

  • Pennzoil 400 NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens): This year, Pennzoil will offer free NFTs to fans during the five days leading up to race weekend (March 1-5). Each day, Pennzoil will release 2,022 unique NFTs within the Pennzoil Virtual Proving Grounds. To vie for NFTs while supplies last, fans will need to complete a survey and provide their crypto wallet address on the Ethereum network.   • Virtual Hot Spots: There will be unique virtual hot spots throughout the Virtual Proving Grounds for fans to engage with all race weekend. Highlights include a moderated walk around video of the Next Generation Racecar and behind-the-scenes stories of Proof from Team Penske drivers, Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney and more.
  • Shell Racing App: Fans can race incredible cars virtually on a variety of custom tracks including the Shell Motorsports Collection! Users can race against one another or try and beat Joey’s game time. The app is available for download now in the App Store and Play Store and is free to users.

On the track, Team Penske driver and two-time Pennzoil 400 champion Joey Logano will pilot his new No. 22 Next Generation Ford Mustang showcasing the Pennzoil primary paint scheme. Teammate Ryan Blaney will sport the Pennzoil co-primary paint scheme in his No. 12 Next Generation Ford Mustang for Pennzoil/Menards. 

All Team Penske drivers will have Pennzoil Synthetics running through their engine as the green flag waves to kick off the Pennzoil 400. Pennzoil works hand-in-hand with Team Penske to develop premium motor oil formulations and test them under harsh desert conditions as a laboratory for tomorrow’s road cars. Pennzoil says it takes pride in offering the first synthetic motor oil made from natural gas to help Team Penske drivers get through demanding race conditions and consumers get to their destinations without compromise.
