Lear Controller Resigns

Lear Corp., the world’s largest maker of automotive interiors, said corporate controller William Dirks has resigned from the company. Dirks, 44, left following “discussions with senior management regarding the finance department organization,” the Southfield, Mich., company said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Johnson Controls to Sell Engine Electronics Business to Valeo

Johnson Controls announced today plans to sell its engine electronics business to Valeo. The business was a part of the Sagem automotive electronics business Johnson Controls acquired in 2001 to expand and strengthen its electronic capabilities for automotive interiors.

Lear Announces Executive Appointments

Fortune 500 automotive interiors company Lear Corp. announced the following organizational changes this week. Jim Brackenbury, has been named president – Mexican Operations, succeeding Dino de Falco who is retiring. Frank Orsini succeeds Brackenbury as president of the DaimlerChrysler Division and Dan Golles replaces Orsini as vice president – GM Truck Group. Brackenbury, Orsini and Americo Nesti, president – South American Operations whose position remains unchanged, report directly to Douglas DelGrosso, president and COO – Americas. Golles will report to Frank Sovis, president of Lear’s GM Division.

Visteon Offers Worker Buyouts

Blaming shrinking sales to key automotive customers, Visteon Corp. told its 8,300 white-collar workers Thursday that it plans to offer buyouts to a “significant” number of employees by the end of the year. In what analysts expect to be the first step in a much larger corporate restructuring, the Van Buren Township, Mich.-based maker of automotive interiors, steering components and fuel systems told all of its salaried employees in the U.S. that it is seeking to eliminate jobs through a voluntary buyout program.
