FALLS CHURCH, Va. George Henard, president and founder of J.K. Distributors Inc. in Falls Church, Va., passed away on Sept. 7 at his home in Falls Church.
John Koons Sr. and George Henard ventured into an aftermarket company in 1971, which started the business JK Auto Parts. In 1982, Henard and Hubert (Jay) Hoffman III purchased the business from the Koons family. At that time, the warehouse operation name was changed to H&H Automotive Parts Warehouse, while the parts stores retained the JK Auto Parts name, and earned a solid reputation for excellent customer service.
Today, JK Distributors consists of nine JK Auto Parts stores and a distribution center. George was an organizer, motivator, encourager and had a remarkable memory but always kept track on the yellow pad, according to those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Henard. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Evans; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Henard; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302. Funeral services will be held in Tappahannock, Va., at a later date.
